after returning to Bricket Wood, since when I attended Mt Pleasant Lane School, 1946-49, when we lived at 39 Bucknalls Drive ( Hamilton fam. ), I would like to take this opportunity of thanking the landlord / lady at the Black Boy, who made my nostalgic journey so pleasant, with good ale and food, although the TV sets were not in situ when I ast used the pub in 1959 just before I completed my indentured appren. with odhams Press, Lon. offices. The lane seemed to be much as it was then when as a schoolboy aged 6 - 9, I used to walk along it to nearby woods and footpaths. Long may it remain as also the Old Bricket. Well done with the war signage which I still await details of. Yours respectfully, Geoffrey Hamilton ( all the then generation of Hamiltons are now sadly deceased. I am 72, but not fading, just yet ) Good Luck !!

On the 13th May we brought family and friends to the Blackboy after a funeral at the West Herts Crematorium. There were about 30 of us altogether and we were overwhelmed at the location itself. but especially the welcome we received from Peter and his staff. Some of us were locals, but many were over from Ireland so it was especially nice to be able to show just how good our local hospitality is! The food was excellent and plentiful and the service second to none.We wouldnt hesitate to recommend the Blackboy. Thankyou Peter

Following the recent funeral service of our daughter at the nearby crematorium we held a buffet lunch at The Black Boy in Brickett Wood. We cannot praise highly enough the kindness and empathy shown by the landlord Pete. All of our guests commented on the charm of this old inn and in particular the excellent buffet lunch provided for us. Once again Pete many thanks for your kindness and warm hospitality Best Wishes David & Jean Faulkner
